Always Moving Forward

I always park backing my vehicle in – with the tail of my vehicle in and the front facing out. This is symbolic of how I try to live my life: always moving forward, I never want to go backwards. In life, symbols (and how we use them to consciously direct our lives) are as important as the actions we take. It’s about how we set up our day, week, month, and year. For instance, in our business, we have a very strong business plan. That does NOT mean everyday things will always go according to plan. Some days, we […]

Choose Success

“Your abilities might give you potential, but your choices demonstrate your character, courage, or kindness.” That quote exhibits the concept of action over ability. This is something that I try to teach my kids, team members, and those I mentor. You can have all the natural gifts in the world. BUT if you don’t put in the work, those gifts will go to waste. I never had any “real” talent. At least I never felt that I did. I struggled in school. ‘Always had to prove myself in sport. ‘Never the first kid picked or the last. I was just kind of…there. When […]

True Friendship

The definition of true friendship is doing what needs to be done when no one is looking. It entails being the person who checks in every now and again, just to say hello. Like flying to the funeral of a friend’s father and showing up to support them without announcing your visit. Or being a sounding board when things are not always going great. True friendship is knowing when things aren’t going great. And when they aren’t, asking how you can help – even when that friend says they don’t need it or want it. This week, I was reminded […]

Effort and Attitude

Effort and attitude. Those are two of the core fundamentals for success in anything you do. This is something that has served as my North Star my entire life. And I’ve tried to instill the same in my kids. Recently, this has been a real struggle. Both of my kids are very gifted. They are both very different kids, but gifted, nonetheless. So how does one instill these core values? We have done a great job with device management. Both of my kids sit at the dinner table in a restaurant without tablets, phones, etc. They are engaged (most of […]

January 2026 Market & Economic Recap

Stock Market What a year it’s been already – and it’s only January! To some, the past month has felt like far more than 31 days on Wall Street, and for good reason through a headline-filled, volatile start to 2026. Stocks pulled back on Friday, the last trading day of the month, as technology shares continued to struggle, even as investors generally welcomed President Donald Trump’s selection of Kevin Warsh to lead the Federal Reserve. Despite Friday’s losses and the volatility that defined much of the month, the major indexes managed to finish January in positive territory. S&P 500 +1.4% […]

All is Good

This week, I had the pleasure of attending an industry conference. I was able to see colleagues, some I had not seen in years. I learned from many and was able to stay in tune with the industry. On the final day, as I was listening to the final speaker, an alert on my phone popped up. Your flight has been delayed 10 minutes. “No big deal. I will still have time to make my connection,” I said to myself. Then another, “Your flight has been delayed 20 minutes.” Then another, “Your flight has been delayed 25 minutes.” Then the […]

People always come back for value

In 1900, a small French company launched a brilliant marketing campaign that would change the face of an industry. Back then, cars were rare and Michelin needed to sell more tires. The problem…not enough people driving. “So, what if we didn’t sell tires?” one man pondered. “What if we made people want to travel instead?” “We will create a guidebook – not a book to sell tires, but a book to help drivers explore the open road. This book will have maps, gas station locations, mechanics, hotels and RESTAURANTS. We will sell nothing – just share what we know!” Of […]

Same Human Beings

“We are so thankful that we met you, Jeremy,” Susan said. She then posted the same thing publicly online! I’m so appreciative for the relationship and the work we have done for her and their family. Later in the week, after seeing the post, my client Susan and I spoke live. I just wanted to inquire about her husband, Charles’, health (he’s battling cancer) and all that the family had going on. No performance discussions, just simply a check-in “How is Chet feeling?” I asked. “He is doing ok,” Susan replied. “We have had a few small scares, but we […]

Clarity and commitment.

Clarity and commitment. As we welcome in another year, I find that thinking about clarity and commitment as critical steps for my 2026. After all, you cannot have commitment without clarity. But you also cannot have clarity without commitment. What I mean by this is that one must commit to being clear about what one wants: personally, professionally, spiritually and financially. Once the commitment is made, a clear vision about what’s in-store follows. I am not afraid to admit that for years I failed in both. Sure, I still saw some success, but never truly was “all in” with my […]
