Time is our greatest asset. Yet it is very precious and often overlooked.
Make sure to value your time.
On Tuesday morning at around 7:30 am, my Aunt Penny, while riding her bike, was hit by a car.
It was a ride she and my uncle had done a million times.
Close to their home. Flat road. Well lit.
The young woman driving wasn’t paying attention and hit my aunt on her bicycle, putting her in the hospital and in a coma.
My family’s lives – and the lives of those she touched – have changed in an instant.
All I can think of are all the things that I didn’t get to say to my Aunt Penny, all the feelings that I didn’t get to express. I reflect on all of the wonderful things she has done for so many people, without asking for anything in exchange, just because it was the right thing to do.
When she comes out of it, one can only hope she will be the same person she was – and that she will be able to attend my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah (something she was so looking forward to).
Time is precious. It is our greatest asset. Spend it wisely.
Things change so fast. I can’t believe my daughter will be 13 soon. Where did the time go?
Have I done all that I could have and should have?
But I also can’t look back and dwell on the past. What’s the point?
We can only look forward and cherish every day with those we care about.
After all, things can change in the blink of an eye. So don’t take a single moment for granted.
And please say a quick prayer for my Aunt Penny.
