I read a quote the other day that really resonated.
“The comeback is never the moment everyone sees. It is the quiet work nobody knew was happening. While you were counting someone out, they were already three years into the next chapter.”
The sentence that really resonated most with me was, “It is the quiet work nobody knew was happening.”
That’s what it’s all about – doing the things that are necessary to be done, that no one knows about, that you won’t receive any accolades for, but knowing that it needs to be done.
Whether it’s for personal growth, to support your family during a difficult time, or to pursue a goal you may not yet fully recognize, do the work.
Leadership is what that is all about: doing the quiet work behind the scenes to ensure you lead your family, friends, clients, and business associates with clear direction and vision. Those around you may not know what it is that you’re doing to deliver the results or provide the guidance, but behind the scenes, there’s a lot happening.
It takes incredible resolve, resilience, and focus to be the kind of person that does not look for praise from others but is instead focusing on the end game.
Lead with purpose.
Do the work.
Don’t expect accolades from others and do what’s right when no one else is looking.
