I heard a quote the other day that struck me.
“Comparison is the thief of joy.”
This really resonated with me.
It is so easy sometimes to compare oneself to others. (Even if we’re just comparing our real lives to their “highlight reel” on social media.)
They have this or that. This person had more success because he had this advantage or that.
They had parents who helped or had a naturally better market.
Taller than I am!
Whatever.
At the end of the day, you are good enough.
Your expectations are what they are, and you are exactly where you are supposed to be, right now.
Does that mean you should not try to do more or be more? Not at all. But at what cost?
Being true to oneself is the MOST important thing to be. Nothing can replace that.
Trying to keep up will only lead to frustration and anger.
Getting to the core of who you are and what you can do is the key to happiness and success. You only need to focus on being the best unique version of you that you can and want to be in life. And no one else can compete with it.
Now, I am not saying I have mastered this – far from it.
But understanding and accepting that the best is yet to come brings peace of mind and soul.
I think it also creates that hope that we all need.
Never compare yourself; just be who you were meant to be.
