If we know eating junk food is going to make us unhealthy, then why do we do it?
If we know drinking too much on a Wednesday night is going to make us not feel our best on Thursday morning, then why do we do it?
If we know that spending too much money on frivolous things and not focusing on our future retirement is a bad decision, then why do we do it?
Getting clear on our why – and being intentional with the decisions we make – is how we achieve long-term intentional success.
I heard someone say the other day that getting up at 5:45 in the morning is not an option.
Well, it’s something I decided to do years ago to make sure that I am always in the gym at the same time and that I don’t have to think about it.
Creating behaviors that allow us to remain focused on what’s important – and getting clear on our why – provides greater clarity, consistency, and happiness.
I remember years ago when I first started in the financial services business, I would always plan what I was going to wear the day before, just so I didn’t have to think about it in the morning. To this day, I still get dressed the exact same way. I don’t have to think about it.
Being intentional with everything we do, whether it be brushing our teeth, how we dress, or what decisions we make throughout the day, provides for better clarity, consistency, and a happier life.
Live simpler – it’s the answer.
