Things are good. Business has its challenges, but I have continued on my path of building a fully integrated financial services practice.
I receive a letter at the office that my grandmother, whom I had not seen in years had died. We had bee estranged for a number of years. I called the attorney on the letter asking some questions to understand what had happened. I then asked when the funeral was going to be. He informed me that it had been a week ago. Disappointed for all the reasons you can imagine, I further inquired about how they were going to get her estate (small in size) to my father, whom I also hadn’t seen in a decade. I was informed that they had no idea where he was and that he had become homeless years prior and suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. They had attempted to locate him with no success. I found that particularly odd and questioned further. Learning that my grandmother had “chosen” to leave her money to the caregiver. Well, needless to say all of this was concerning.
This began our journey into locating my father one way or another and making sure that he received the benefit of his small inheritance.
Well, we located him a short time later. Went to court. Got the beneficiary rights of the estate to him. Placed him in an assisted living facility. Got him medicated and somewhat stable. At least he was no longer on the street and was being taken care of.
That year, I made the Top 20, $450,000 in first year commissions, $50,000 in CRIA, MDRT, and the equivalent of TOC.
5 years later, prior to my daughter’s birth, his first grandchild, he died.
As I reflect on my life. OUR business. Relationships. Good times and difficult times. When things get challenging I always go back and remember this…….
IT CAN ALWAYS BE WORSE AND THINGS ARENT EVER THAT BAD.
Life always has challenges. Particularly when you are in a business that depends on maximum effort. Interpersonal risk and FAITH.
As long and we work hard and push to be the best we can be, the results WILL be positive.
Stay committed. Stay focused. Work hard. Deliver on your commitments. Q 1 just ended.
With our common goals in mind….
